Happy Birthday Plymouth Motor Club.

Centenary Celebrations 2008

Well here we are after years of Planning the Club has finally reached its Hundredth Birthday and what a year to remember we want it to be. As I have been writing over the past months lots of events are planned for the year all that we require is participation from You, the Club members, as without you the Club would not have reached this mile stone.

To round up the Events and things that have happened since last month:

Nostalgic Evening / Launch Party. Saturday 9th February 2008.

Held at the Elfordleigh Hotel this event proved to be a fantastic opener to the 2008 celebrations with over 120 people present and past attending this party.

With a fabulous buffet, video shows, old photos and literature, the event proved popular with old And young.

I got hungry just typing that lot in!

We have combined the Menu with a booking form that should be in as a flyer in this newsletter, otherwise it can be down loaded of the Club Website or you can pick one up at Club events.

We would be grateful if you could make your menu selections as soon as possible and return the form with any monies due to Lynn Palmer at the earliest opportunity so that we can get things under way as there is still a lot of back ground work to be done over the next few months for this event, a lot of which depends on numbers. As mentioned last time we are after Raffle Prizes and items to Auction to raise money the Chairman’s Charities so if you know of any then please let us know. The Tickets are selling well with over 110 sold so far. So if you want to join in then you will need to let Lynn Palmer, 01752 341675 know without delay. A few Rooms are still available in the Hotel at a discounted rate if booked via the Club but again they are going fast- so please let Lynn know your requirements.

Barnstable to Plymouth Classic Run. 21st September.

We have now decided on a finish venue for the event. Apart from that things are progressing well.

Before the event Tesco’s at Lee Mill are letting us put on a publicity display to raise the profile of the Club and to raise money for the Clubs Charities so we are looking for people and Cars to display over a weekend, probably June 7 / 8th, More details to follow.

The Club History Book.

Lynn and Dave have been off to the printers to get some quotes and ideas for the layout of the book so we should have a price soon for it.

From what I have read and heard everyone is very impressed with it and look forward to owning a copy.

Well that is about all for this month.

And I look forward to meeting you all at the Launch Party on the 9th February and swapping Tales of old and not so long ago.
